*All camps are free to qualified applicants. This includes all airfare and transportation for your child. Please note that children may be flying as an Unaccompanied Minor depending on their departure city.

Camp Staff consists of a Camp Director, a Camp Medical Professional, and Camp Counselors.
The camper to counselor ratio is 5:1. All Camp Staff and Volunteers must complete a national background check, a volunteer application, an interview, and camp personnel and safety training. All professional staff and volunteers are 21+ years of age. Camp Counselors may be 18+ years of age. All activities are led by seasoned outdoor sportsmen with expertise in outdoor sportsman fields inculding camping, hunting, fishing, and survival.
We will host two (2) parent information sessions. Please feel free to join us for one of these sessions to learn more about this amazing opportunity!

Summer Camp Essential Eligibility Criteria
W.A.K.E., Inc. summer camps provide an exceptional outdoor educational and mentorship experience. During our camps, we consider the needs of each camper to promote success and provide a positive camp experience. Our camps are week-long camps with overnight stays in tents and/or cabins at a campsite location.
Disclosure of special needs will not bar participation. Let us know when you register if your child has a developmental, emotional, or physical disability or requires another type of assistance. All activities are open to all individuals who meet the following essential eligibility requirements by themselves or with an aide (provided by the participant and with no cost to W.A.K.E., Inc.).
General Requirements:
· Participants must be in grades K – 12. Each camp may have a specific target grade range.
· Participants must meet at least one (1) of the following criteria:
o Exhibit Low-Income/High Financial Need as defined by Department of Education (DOE)

For family units with more than eight members, add the following amount for each additional family member: $6,810 for the 48 contiguous states, the District of Columbia and outlying jurisdictions; $8,520 for Alaska; and $7,830 for Hawaii.
The term "low-income individual" means an individual whose family's taxable income for the preceding year did not exceed 150 percent of the poverty level amount. (Applicants who meet this criteria will need to submit a copy of their parents' most recent tax return to verify income.)
The figures shown under family income represent amounts equal to 150 percent of the family income levels established by the Census Bureau for determining poverty status. The 2021 poverty guidelines are in effect as of January 13, 2021. (These will be updated with 2022 guidelines.)
o Be a part of a marginalized or underrepresented community
Defined as those populations who experience discrimination of any kind and encounter barriers (e.g., racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, economic, cultural, religious, disability, and/or linguistic) to access of similar youth programs.
Camp Behavior/Abilities Requirements:
Children are expected to display appropriate behavior at all times. Outdoor sportsman camps can include higher than usual risk factors when considering the environment, equipment, and activities. To assure the maximum safety and enjoyment of the program by all participants, please review the following guidelines with your child.
Campers will:
· Show respect to all participants, staff, and nature.
· Be pleasant to others and refrain from using foul language.
· Refrain from putting themselves and others in danger.
· Use equipment, supplies, and facilities as instructed.
· Always wear shoes.
· Stay with the group.
· Exhibit appropriate group behavior that doesn’t disrupt the flow of teaching and learning.
· Obey all instructions given by camp staff.
Personal Needs
· With verbal prompts, is able to self-medicate independently or with an aide.
· Is able to manage all personal hygiene on their own or with an aide.
Motor Needs
· Is able to ambulate on own or with a mechanical device.
· Is able to perform gross motor functions and fine motor functions with reasonable guidance.
Additional Requirements
· Is able to get in and out of a kayak and/or canoe independently or with an aide.
· Is able to turn from face-down to face-up position in water independently while wearing a properly fitted life jacket and holding their breath while under water.
· Is able to maintain a balanced, upright position when seated in a kayak, canoe, and/or ATV.
· Is willing to wear all safety equipment correctly such as, but not limited to, protective helmets and life jacket.
