The Fishing Adventures Camp is a week long, overnight camp where youth will learn the fundamentals of fishing and experience fishing in various bodies of water including lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Campers will learn techniques for catch and release, wildlife and natural resources management, and the angler's role in conversation.
The Hunting Adventures Camp is a week long, overnight camp where youth will learn the fundamentals of hunting, weapon safety, archery, animal anatomy, animal tracking, and field dressing. Campers will have the option of going through the training and earning their Bowhunter Education Certification. Campers will also learn skills such as shot placement, equipment care, tree stand set up, and safety. Just as important, campers will learn about the importance of ethics, wildlife and natural resources management, and the hunter's role in conservation.
The Outdoor Adventures Camp is a week long, overnight camp where youth will learn fundamentals of camping, survival skills, hiking, mapping and orienteering, outdoor cooking, shelter building, fire building and safety, as well as other activities to enhance their enjoyment of the outdoors.
Each youth who participates in any of the W.A.K.E., Inc. camp adventures, will have a mentor who will follow up with them throughout the academic year. Building strong relationships with a mentor is critical to positively impacting a youth's life. Mentors will call, video conference, and when appropriate, meet with mentees to continue to support them in their growth and development.
W.A.K.E., Inc. Scholarship Program is for camp alumni. Scholarship applications will be accepted each Spring from former campers an/or Camp Counselors/Volunteers. Scholarship amounts will vary based on need, eligibility, and academic performance.
Scholarships may be used at vocational & technical schools, 2-year, or 4-year colleges or universities.
